     Works really well - Sep 02, 2010

One drawback is to note that the dashboard in your car may shake differently than your windshield does as you go over rough surfaces. This difference in movement if it occurs may be something you will notice in your Garmin. But this isn't a product defect, it is just something to be aware of as you are mounting your unit to a different component on your vehicle . But it really isn't a big deal, it is just a minor issue. This items works as advertised and just fine for the two Garmin models I've tried it on. I easily adjusts up and down and side to side. It is also easy to set up and sits snugly and securely on top of the dashboard in your vehicle.

     A Lifesaver - Sep 02, 2010

I recently moved and am heavily dependent on my GPS. This device hugs the dashboard and has not fallen off. Those that stick to the window tend to dry up in hot weather and dump the GPS on the floor. It is easy to remove from the dashboard at each stop and replaces easily when I start the next leg of my trip. This is important as I would not be able to get home from some of the places I have visited if the device was stolen.

     Excellent replacement - Sep 02, 2010

This is an excellent replacement for the windshield mount.
I do not see the GPS fallen on the floor of the car every morning in summer and Winter.
My suction cup would just not hold on any day with extreme weather.
I got the idea of buying this because my Avis rental had one of these.
And it is a good replacement. It fits right on my dashboard.

     Garmin Friction Mount - recommended - Sep 02, 2010

This mount holds to your dashboard, has very good stability, and is very easy to use. I highly recommend this product.

Liked it so much, bought one for my sister - Sep 01, 2010

Just what I needed. Easy to transport from vehicle to vehicle. Easy to place the GPS unit in it. Easy to tuck under the seat & hide. I liked mine so much, when my sister got her Garmin, I purchased one for her too.

Good for cars, not for trucks that bounce. - Sep 01, 2010

Works real well in cars but will slide around in trucks with slanted dash boards. It could be a little smaller.

Garmin Portable Friction Mount - Sep 01, 2010

Thumbs up with this product! Doesn't slide when going around corners or tight turns but can be moved around the dash easily. The arm that holds the GPS rotates nicely. Easy to stash away. I recommend this product.

     fantastic!!!! - Aug 31, 2010

This portable friction mount is just superb. Very easy to assemble and adjust for optimum viewing. It is quite stable in just about any angle or surface.

Waaaaay better than the suction cup mount. - Aug 30, 2010

I was really excited to purhcase this mount for my GPS, as the suction cup mount I had was always falling off the windshield. But, the friction mount didn't live up to my expectations. This mount protects my GPS from wear and tear much better than the suction cup, but it does not provide much 'friction' for a friction mount. My dash is molded plastic, and I drive on gravel roads quite a bit. The whole system tends to slide around on the dash, but I'd take this system over a falling GPS any day. I'm considering a small piece of duct tape on the underside of this mount system for max stabilization.

     It works, I like it - Aug 30, 2010

Not much to say. I like these pads and mount points better than windshield suction cup thing. It makes it much more portable, taking it from one car to the other.

I like it, and would buy another again. This is not really any better (or worse) than another friction mount I had before.

     Why didn't I get this sooner - Aug 30, 2010

I had thought about buying it over a year ago, but hesitated because my garmin's suction cup was working adequately. Mine finally lost its suction and I quickly bought the mount for a trip. It worked so much better, could easily be moved around, and while parking in the hot sun of Arizona, I'd remove it from the dash and store it on the shady passenger side floor. We love the mobility of the mount and the ease of adjusting the angle without worrying that the unit will fall off the window.

Great for sports cars. - Aug 30, 2010

The base is heavy enough and well balanced so that placing the Garmin on the console is easy and convenient.

     Easy - Aug 30, 2010

Garmin Portable Friction Mount works great. No more marks on the windshield. Only draw back is the weight/size.
No all that easy to stick in a bag and take it with you. But fine for swapping from one car to another.

     Get it! - Aug 30, 2010

Perfect for my 2008 honda civic, since the dashboard is so deep, its not ideal to use the window mount.

Friction in the family or on the dashboard--you pick... - Aug 30, 2010

Product works great, moves from car to car with ease. Settles family disputes--its best feature! :-)

     Highly recommended - Aug 29, 2010

Excellent GPS mount... works perfectly in my Pathfinder, despite it's oddly contoured dashboard. Nicely weighted so it won't shift, and conforms to the dashboard shape. You won't be disappointed.

When nothing else has worked - Aug 29, 2010

This is my second friction mount. After stumbling with suction cups, the friction mount did the job. It fits on top of your dash and is easily portable if you want to bring it inside or just move it to the floor of your vehicle. If you don't want it to be visible on the dash when not in use a regular size baseball cap will cover it nicely. There is a little slippage on the some dashboards over time but not serious and nothing that can't be adjusted in less than a minute.

     Does a great job - Aug 29, 2010

This item does exactly what it says. Although I am able to use my windshield mount where I live I prefer to use the friction mount. Very stable, does not move and provides more flexibility then the windshield mount when it comes to angles. Love it

Works in all my vehicles. - Aug 28, 2010

It seems to stay in place.
It makes it easier to remove it from the dash when exiting.

     Doesn't Move at All - Aug 27, 2010

Got as a gift along with NAV and couldn't be happier. Going 80+mph on highway or curvy roads the grip held tight and there was no movement at all. Much better than the window mounts because you easily hide it under your seat and not draw the attention of would-be NAV thiefs.

     I wonder why... - Aug 27, 2010

...this is not included with the car mount. I used the adhesive disc that came with my car mount until I got tired of the sticky mess it left on the dashboard, and really like this mount. It gives a good view of the GPSr and is easy to position when you need to.

     Very Good - Aug 26, 2010

I do not want a permanent mount so I opted for the latter. During a long journey, it tends to move forward a little bit, but this is not a constraint to push back a little from time to time. I think this must be provided with a weighted frame, so I'm not complaining. I do not think it's "ugly" as one critic said, it's supposed to be utilitarian, not decorative. And it is very easy to remove it from my Garmin so I can secretly out of sight.

     Really works well - Aug 26, 2010

When I first took the mount out of the box the first thing I thought was: "Wow this thing is going to just slide all over the dashboard every time I turn a corner!"

Well I've had it on the dash of my Pontiac Torrent now for almost 2 months and it has yet move. It stays exactly where you set it. I'm not sure exactly how it is able to do it, but it does what it claims. That is, it won't slide around at all, it "sticks" in place. I've even taken some pretty sharp fast turns just to see if it would move. It doesn't. I imagine anyone who orders this mount will think the same as I did when you first take it out of the box, but you'll be quite surprised at how it stays where you put it.

I also really like that once you park, all you have to do is grab the whole mount and set it on the floor. When you get back to your car, you simply just pick it up and put it on the dash. No more messing around with suction cups.

     Works So Far - Aug 26, 2010

So far so good. I have it in my police car and since that goes faster than most cars, I can honestly say it doesn't move off of the dash...so I'm much happier with it than the suction cup that came with the GPS and constantly falls off the window and it really is a pain when you are responding to calls and that happens.

     A good product - Aug 25, 2010

It is sturdy enough, although it does move slightly when the car is in motion.
