     Great value - Aug 29, 2010

This camera is easy to use with a decent amount of features. It has HD picture quality and was a great value for the price.

Got what I wanted at this price - Aug 26, 2010

If you are on a very very tight budget (air ticket took the most part of my budget already) and don't want to pay anything over $100, this is the camera for this price. Below is my feedback after taking a couple of hundred pictures in a trip to Hong Kong.

    Pros:
    -low price
-pictures are of good quality (12mega) and over 95% of them were in good focus and clear. I printed about 150 pics (including Disney World in HK) on photo paper thru PhotoMax in Hong Kong for Mom in law and they came out very well. They look good on computer too.
-took about 10 video clips. They all worked well on computer when replaying (the camera does not have HD format support yet in its video).
-use AA batteries (I know some people do not like this as it makes the camera a little bigger - anyway just a little bigger only and OK with me) but I like it because if the battery runs out by accident and I have no replacement handy, I can purchase anywhere easily. BTW, I had 4 rechargeable AA batteries and this camera took 2 at a time and so most of the time I did not run into the need to buy new battery. You can take a lot of pics with just 2 batteries. The only one time we had to purchase new batteries was because we forgot to bring the other 2 batteries out and the ones in use ran out. This is much better than when a camera is using other type of batteries and you forgot to bring them out and you won't be able to use your camera in that case at all.
    -flash is OK

    Cons:
-the mode that has face detection just does not work. If you use that mode, the pictures you got would be extremely extremely disappointing and that's why some other reviews here said that the pictures from this camera were very poor and this was because they probably have selected that mode. If you stay away from using that and select other mode, the picture would come out just fine. With that said, you are not really getting all the features that you pay for here. Even this camera is cheap, the price per each working function may be more expensive than the others. But too bad, I cannot spend more than $100 for a camera in my budget and so I have to stick with it (still better than not being able to get a camera at all).
-the sports mode is only 1/250th second and its much slower than most of other camera (1/1000th second).

So if you cannot afford more than $100 like me and you only care about taking reasonable good pictures easily (no sports - sports mode is slow), this may be the right camera for you. If you can spend more than $100, you should check out something else and you can get better sports mode and higher zoom power, etc.

    Hope this helps.

Would return it if I could - Aug 26, 2010

I needed a new camera that was a s easy to use as my old Canon. I read up on this camera and felt it was a user friendly, good quality camera. I'm finding that its very slow to make it available to snap another picture and a lot of time, the pictures have come out very fuzzy. I would not recommend this camera. Even though I can't return it, I think I will buy another camera. Always remember, you get what you pay for. If its cheap in price, its probably cheap in quality

     WOW!!! I love this camera!! - Aug 26, 2010

     Nikon Coolpix L22 - Aug 22, 2010

We use this camera as a carry with to grab off hand photos, and it does a great job, pixs are clear and color good. I can not comment on the movie capabilities and have not thus far taken many dark indoor shots, but none of the shots we have taken are throwaways. We would recommend this camera to a friend

     Nikon L22 - Aug 21, 2010

This is a great litte camera for the price, snap 'n shoot, easy to use & great pic's... buy it!

Best digital camera I have ever had. - Aug 10, 2010

This takes good close ups of objects (hit the little flower on scroll circle) and I used it to send knob pictures as an email attachment to the retailer I bought a stove from which arrived with two broken handles. Other reviewers that haven't liked the indoor pictures probably just selected wrong setting. I haven outdoor pictures and indoor pictures of my home for listing on the internet, and all the pictures are very good. This camera is an excellent choice for a realtor. I think the camera is very pretty with the chrome against the matte black. Large screen. The price on AMAZON was best, and free shipping was lightening fast.

     Not for Video! - Aug 06, 2010

I own a Sony Cybershot 7.5 mp that I bought in 2007. The Sony CS is a great digital camera. It was over $200 dollars at the time and I still use it today.
I purchased the Nikon Coolpix L22 digital camera as a gift for my Mother after she asked me to have several ziploc bags full of old camera film developed.
I am mostly happy with the Nikon. The camera is user friendly and the zoom options are easy to use. The Nikon L22 takes 2 AA batteries instead of using a battery pack. Which I think is better for beginner camera users.
The pictures are of good quality but still lacking a certain crispness that you would expect from a "12.0 mp camera. My Sony SC ($200+) is only a 7.5 mp and the pictures look better than the Nikon.
The easiest way to shoot pics is to use the easy-auto setting. The digital flash can get annoying as it seems to need a good 10-15 seconds to "recharge". This can get really old when you are trying to capture say; a sunset or someone opening a gift. What I'm saying is: When timing counts; it sucks to have to wait.
Now, the video. The video is terrible. I don't know what Nikon did to mess up the video so bad but it isn't pretty. The options for video output are limited. Standard tv 640 and 320. The color of the video is severely altered and blues will come out green. It also tends to look majorly "overlighted".
Imagine you were filming on a stage under stage lights. Bright stage lights. Yeah, bad.
So, for the price (around $70). I can't complain too much. If you are switching from an old camera to digital cameras then this would be a good first buy. If not, then get something of higher quality.
I would suggest the Sony Cybershot. (Surprise, surprise)
I guess I had already been spoiled by a greatly superior camera but hey: "What do you expect for $70"?

You get what you pay for - Aug 03, 2010

I'm a very loyal Nikon fan and have been using their digital SLR cameras for years. My "bar" camera has always been a Canon, but I decided to try the Nikon Coolpix since I have always trusted Nikon's technology.

The camera takes nice pictures and is a very good price for a 12 megapixel camera. There is a large view screen, which is also a plus.

However, there are two major downsides to the camera that I wish I would have known before purchasing:
    1) It uses AA batteries -- NOT a rechargeable battery pack. This actually makes the camera more expensive in the long run, since you need to constantly purchase AA batteries. It also makes the camera wider than battery-pack cameras since there has to be room for batteries. Hence, a camera that doesn't fit in your pocket as well as other models

    2) After hitting the shutter button, it takes a LONG time for the camera to actually take the picture. So being out at the bar, everyone has to wait a LONG time holding their smiles... almost uncomfortably long. So this camera is not recommended for use at sporting events where you are trying to capture fast-action motion

the best easy to use camera - Aug 01, 2010

This camera is easy to use camera. You can just point and shoot and your pictures come out looking amazing. I absolutely love this camera.

     A great little camera - Jul 27, 2010

A great, reasonably priced camera that is intuitive to operate and produces high-quality images. Bought this for my mom as a birthday present, and she hasn't been able to put it down. :)

     Awesome Camera! - Jul 26, 2010

Amazing value for this camera! Loaded with features and easy to use. The image quality is excellent. This camera comes highly recommended!

     Good price - Jul 25, 2010

Amazon had the best price of this camera after I seached for several providers. The quality is pretty good too.

     Coolpix Great Camera - Jul 23, 2010

I got this camera to augment an Olympus and Fuji that I already have and it is everything I wanted it to be. In my opinion the Nikon software is kind of Cheezy, but then so is the Olympus software, so......
    Takes great pictures.
My only negative would be that it seems to burn through batteries rather quickly, but that would be a minor issue for me.
I'd certainly get another and give as gift to anyone wanting a digital camera!!!
(I still like film, but it's getting fairly scarce and expensive when you do find it)....

Great Camera For The Price - Jul 21, 2010

I am extremely pleased with the quality and durability of this little camera. I personally like the fact that it uses standard batteries available at almost any retailer so it's always "ready to go". Picture quality is comparable to any other compact camera I've used.

So far so good for a beginner as me - Jul 12, 2010

Happy with my selection (Nikon Coolpix L22 3.6x). I haven't owned a camera in years, so the user-friendly set up was appreciated. In turning on the camera, it takes you through simple steps. Still learning, but so far snapping indoor photos has worked well. To note, the black hard-carrying case suggested for this camera is great quality, but fits the camera very tightly. I'm worried about damaging the camera getting it in-and-out of the case. Also, wish the case had enough room for spare batteries.

Goodluck to all in your search!

This is my favorite "on the go" camera! - Jul 07, 2010

This is a great camera for everyday use, vacation shots, sports photos, and more. We take low-light, no flash photos with this on the "sports" setting for dance recitals and plays. The photos turn out terrific, and people always ask what camera we use because they are so impressed with the clarity of the shots.

This camera has numerous features and settings. The navigation between settings is pretty intuitive, and the instruction manual has lots more ideas too. It has good video capability for capturing something in a video file when you don't have a camcorder handy. You don't need special software to upload photos from this camera - I have a card reader in my computer to do all that.

The camera does a good job conserving battery life. We use rechargeable AA batteries without any problems for hundreds of photos per charge. It's compact and fairly lightweight, and it fits into a shirt pocket with ease.

The large screen makes reviewing photos easy, and deleting ones from the camera is simple with just a touch of a button plus an "are you sure?" question to keep you from potentially erasing something in error.

The 3.6x optical zoom is an improvement over the previous Nikon Coolpix we had, so this is now the favorite camera in my home! If you've had a Coolpix in the past and are thinking about getting a newer version, definitely do it! You'll find the operations and menu choices very similar to what you're used to, but with added improvements that you'll appreciate.

We've not had any problems with the battery cover on this camera or the previous Coolpix cameras we still own. If you break the battery cover, it's time for a new camera, unfortunately. But it's very sturdy and reliable, so we've never worried about it much.

     Coolpox L22 - Jun 14, 2010

The transaction was super easy and the camera is even better than expected! I use a Nikon DSLR and have been nothing but happy with it. I needed a new point & shoot for work, and this one is a winner for the price.

     Fantastic Camera - May 23, 2010

This is a fantastic camera. The macro feature is the reason I got this camera and it's great for taking pictures of my aquarium. The sports mode works great for capturing fish. It's super easy to use.

The only con is that there are many possible settings and most of them are pretty specific. If you get the wrong setting, then pictures will look odd (strange colors or incorrect focus). However, these were very specific situations (like the aquarium) and once I figured out which setting to use, it works great.
